Laval, Québec-based Labopharm announced in late December that it received FDA approval to market its new once-daily formulation of the analgesic tramadol Ryzolt for the management of moderate to moderately severe chronic pain in adults who require around-the-clock pain treatment for an extended period of time.
Ryzolt is a centrally acting analgesic composed of a dual-matrix delivery system with both immediate- and extended-release characteristics. Labopharm’s marketing partner Purdue Pharma anticipates launching Ryzolt tablets in 100-mg, 200-mg, and 300-mg dose strengths in the second quarter of 2009.
